Introduction
Start-up programs are programs that load when a computer
is first turned on and the operating system boots up. Booting an
operating system takes a significant amount of memory and processing
power, so booting other programs at the same time can result in
much longer boot-up times. Therefore, you should use a startup
manager to control which programs should be launched on
startup and which not. This can be a useful way to increase boot
speed. Download and install PCMate Free Startup Manager
and then follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Remove Startup Programs
Launch PCMate Free Startup Manager and it will list all the
startup programs. Choose a startup program and click "View
Item" to open its registry entry. Click "Run"
and then "Yes" to launch the selected program.
You can also click "Refresh" to refresh the startup
list. Select the item you want to remove from the startup list and
click "Delete" & "Yes". Everything can be done
in a minute.
Step 2: Add Startup Programs
Click "Add" and the "New Run Item"
window is activated. Click the "Section" dropdown
menu to add new startup items to your startup folder,
Run, Run Once, Run Services or other Registry keys. Enter the item
name and browse the file path. You can also change Arguments
used in the selected program. Click "OK" and this
item will run at startup when you turn on your computer.
Step 3: Edit Startup Item Entry
Choose an item you want to edit and click
"Edit" to activate the startup entry editor. Click
"Browse" to select a file as the new registry entry.
Edit the "Arguments" used in the selected program
if you like. Click "OK" and the item entry has
been successfully edited.
